Is this doable in 3 days-Copenhagen?

We will be in CPH on August 30 at 11:30am local time.

We%26#39;re a family of 4 with 2 kids aged 8 %26amp; 6.

We will be coming from Stockholm via train to CPH Central Station :København H

We are staying at the Marriott with a family package that included Tivoli Gardens.

Here%26#39;s our planned itinirary:

Day 1: July 30-on arrival-Walk to Marriott and then head to Little Mermaid, Kastellet, Grefion Fountain, Rosenborg, Town Square and Tivoli at night

Day 2: July 31-Stroget, Amalienborg Castle for changing of guard at noon and park area, Marble Church, Round Tower, Nyan area, Parliament and Natural Museum - Tivoli at night

Day 3: Train to Viking Ships Museum and Cathedral

As well as Hamlet%26#39;s Castle.

Stroll Nyan-Town Square/Tivoli with kids or a canal tour in pm.

Day 4 : Depart Copenhagen in am.

Please advise if this is doable and if we are missing any %26quot;must-see/must-do%26quot; activities.

Thanks much

Day 3 is too packed. Roskilde and Helsingør is in opposite directions of each other.

I think your kids will love the viking ship museum, but might not be very interested with the cathedral.

There are lots of things to see and do by the viking ships were as the cathedral - is just that - a huge church with lots and lots of sarcophaguses of Danish royalty - I hated that when I was a kid ;)

Now Hamlets castle could be interesting for some kids but you are looking at a traveltime between Roskilde and Helsingør around an hour and a half.

In my opinion the canal tour is a much more kid oriented activity - so I suggest you cut Helsingør out of day 4 and go with Roskilde and the canal tour and maybe another trip to Tivoli if your kids liked it ;)

I agree with the previous post that Day 3 is not doable. You should select either Roskilde or Helsingor for day 3 and then return to CPH in the afternoon to hit what you may have missed Days 1 and 2. Definitely do a canal tour at some point!

Day 1 and 2 seem manageable, but for Day 2, do you mean the National Museum? If so, note that this museum is quite extensive, so you will likely only have time to see a small portion of it. It%26#39;s still worth a visit though. Have fun!

Don%26#39;t expect too much of the changing of guards at Amalienborg Castle on 31 July. The Queen is not in residence so the it will be a low scale change, i.e. no military band.

Thanks everyone!

Hans,

thanks for the update about the changing of the guards at Amalienborg castle.

In this case, no need to try to be there by noon on Day 2. We%26#39;ll take our time on the main pedestrian strip.

We%26#39;ll start early to do all day 2 activities mentioned, including National Museum with kids. In the afternoon, we%26#39;ll catch a canal tour and do Tivoli in pm.

Will we be able to do both : Viking Ships museum and Hamlett%26#39;s castle on day 3, then?

I still think Day 3 will be rough. Will you be renting a car for Day 3? If so, that would make it easier. But note that Roskilde and Helsingor are not that convenient to each other: Roskilde is west of CPH (20-30 mins); Helsingor is north of CPH (45 mins). If you are traveling by train I think it could be tricky to coordinate. But maybe check the train schedules when you get to DK and see if you can make it work. Enjoy!

Great.

So, if we were to choose between Roskilde and Helsingor, which would be a better option traveling with kids?

Also, is a canal tour worth it, since we will be stopping by most of the main tourists sites?

Please advise and thanks.

I would definitely do a canal tour. You get a different perspective of the city from the water. Plus it%26#39;s fun. It also doesn%26#39;t take that long.

As between Roskilde and Helsingor, you can%26#39;t really go wrong, so I think it really depends on what you would rather see: a Renaissance castle vs. a ship museum and a cathedral. I think Helsingor is more interesting to walk around than Roskilde if that helps. Good luck!

Great.

We%26#39;ll do the Canal tour too, then.

There seems to be 2 companies doing the Canal tours. Which is better?

Or are they both the same?

Dashelter,

Take the guided tour and get it from where it is convenient for you.
