Main attractions walkable?

Are all the main tourist attractions of Copenhagen within walking distance from central train station and does the path go through safe areas? Main attractions include the palaces, round tower, mermaid

Do I need to use the metro? If so, 1 day travel pass available?

Is getting to a canal boat tour walkable distance from train station?

Thanks

Palaces = Rosenborg Castle and Amalienborg Castle?

The walk from Central Station - Stroget - Round Tower - Rosenborg Castle - Marble Church - Amalienborg Castle - along the harbourfront to the Little Mermaid is about 5 km (3 miles).

The metro is not going to Central Station.

Canal tours start from Gammel Strand (distance from CS 1.4 km - 0.8 miles) or Nyhavn (distance from CS 2.3 km - 1.4 miles).

Thanks for the reply! Thats exactly what I wanted to know!

Looking at the metro map, looks like I really dont need the metro to get to these sites. Am I right?

What I meant was that none of the metro stations are very close to the main tourist sites

Correct. You should not need to use public transportation to get around the main attractions. Central CPH is quite compact, so it%26#39;s easy to walk around.

So long as you have no mobility problems I walked everywhere, from New Harbour to Tivoli via Stroget and the parliament building, Palace etc is well within walking distance.
