Copenhagen - off the beaten path

A friend and I are heading to CPH this weekend for a long 3-day weekend. We%26#39;re looking for some places to go out at night and catch some live music (jazz, rock, pop, blues, whatever) and then some good clubs.

I have a list of the most populat tourist sights, but can anyone recommend a favorite place they%26#39;ve been to that might be off the beaten path a bit?

Also, are there any day trip possibilities within an hour of Copen. that may be worth going to, or should we just stay in Copenhange??

Thanks in advance for all the advice,

Jonathan

Well, if you want to get out of the city for half a day there%26#39;s Malmø, which is worth the trip, especially if the weather is nice.

BUT, if the weather is really great, I%26#39;d recommend a trip to the Louisiana Art Museum in Humlebæk. The buildings and the setting on the coast is absolutely wonderful and is hands down my own favorite place for getting out of the city. People come here not just for the art exhibitions (which are usually great) but also to relax on the grounds and enjoy the view to Sweden.

If you want to experience something different in the city I%26#39;d recommend Jægersborggade, a rather gritty street in the northern part of town, which is now being somewhat transformed since a lot of designers etc now have permission to rent the basement rooms. There%26#39;s an excellent coffeeshop, The Coffee Collective, in number 10 (I think). You could combine it with a tour of the Assistensen Cemetery where you%26#39;ll find the graves of H.C. Andersen, Søren Kierkegaard and Ben Webster, to name a few. On sunny days it is not a rare sight to see people relax, sunbathe and have picnics on the cemetery grounds.

For live music and where to go, take a look at www.aok.dk - some of the info is also in English. I%26#39;m not a big clubber, but I love Vega - both for live music and club. I prefer to go out for a drink - try the Phi Phi Martini at K Bar (www.k-bar.dk)

Have fun - Katrine
