Trip from airport to center of city / sight seeing

We are 8 traveling from airport to Imperial hotel. 1.Could you kindly tell me if we were to get the CHP pass ( I am told this is worth it to travel for a 24 hour period), which station should we get off? 2.We have one whole day and a part of second day till 1 PM. Can you kindly suggest the best way to travel in Copenhagen to do the most sight seeing? 3.Are there any Hop on hop off buses as in London to see the different parts of the city? 4.Where can I find a decent map of the city ( Will there be one available at the airport for a price?)5. We love local food. We do not want to go to expensive restaurants and waste time and money. Are there any road side cafes that serve a decent meal that you would recommend ( Like in Paris)?6.Since we are 8 people can we rent a van and a local guide who can take us around for the day for a fee?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Imperial Hotel is near Vesterport Station. From the airport, take any train (not Metro) headed to Copenhagen, off at Central Station. From Central station, you can either walk the rest of it (600-800m?) or switch to an s-train (they%26#39;re usually red) headed north, and get off at the very next stop (Vesterport). It%26#39;s not very far, that%26#39;s why walking from Central Stn. is a good option if it%26#39;s not raining and you don%26#39;t have lots of baggage.

CPH card can be purchased at the airport, according to Visitcopenhagen.com.

Local, not-expensive food: Smørrebrød; there%26#39;s a good take-away shop just across the street from the front of Central Stn. You don%26#39;t have to look far to find smørrebrød cafes.

Very good city maps are free at the Tourist Information Office across from Tivoli (where you can also buy CPH card). The city is fairly compact and very walkable. I would not try to visit both Carlsberg and the Mermaid on foot in the same day, but it is possible to do so (if by bike, no problem). Most things are concentrated from Central Station to Nyhavn along Strøget.

Agree with the previous message - don%26#39;t bother getting a car/van. Everything is walkable and if you get a bit tired the metro/s-train system is excellent. In summer there are also bikes around town that you can use for a deposit (but you might struggle to find 8 of them at the same time).

Thanks a million. This should help a lot.

Thanks again. Our friends will be glad to see this very informative email.
