2 days in copenhagen

We are only in CPH for 2 days arriving 1am one day and departing 3pm 2 days later. We are staying in Hotel nebo. I note the prices of everything in CPH,from what T/A posters have said. So ONE full day, 2 half days. we are aussies.

Itinerary suggestions? We thought a walking tour, buy easy food, beer, water, train trips to and from airport. Relax and enjoy the small city. Do you think 1000DKK will be enough? We have breakfast in hotel paid for. Or any suggestions about where to go.

Hi

Train tickets will cost around 30 dkk per person each way. Please note if you do indeed arrive at 1 AM and not 1 PM, the last train leaves at around 1:45 AM, so any later you will have to take a more expensive bus or an even more expensive taxi.

Itinerary suggestions:

Walking - start out from %26quot;Rådhuspladsen%26quot; (http://www.aok.dk/byen-rundt/raadhuspladsen/?p=map for a map). From there I would go down the pedestrian street Strøget (first part named Frederiksberggade). Take a detour from the lively but overpriced street down the alleys for some better shopping options. Examples could be Kompagnistræde, Læderstræde, Larsbjørnsstræde, Studiestræde and Sankt Peders Stræde. If you are there around lunch, a good option is the café in the former church Nikolaj: http://www.nikolajkirken.dk/.

At the end of Strøget is Kongens Nytorv, a spectacular square in front of the old royal theater. From here you can go down Nyhavn for Old Harbour look-and-feel. Take the Canal Tour (30 dkk if you take Nettobaadene http://www.netto-baadene.dk/engelsk1.htm, 60dkk for an all-day pass to Canal Tours, where you can hop on and off as you please http://www.canaltours.com/dct/en) through Christianshavn and enjoy the look of some of the old part of Copenhagen. Christianhavn is a very nice part of the city, where old buildings lies right down to the canals, and there is a relaxed and very nice feeling.

If you feel for it, a guided tour of Christiania (www.christiania.org/modules.php…) is highly recommended. Christiania is a self-managing part of the city, a sort of social experiment, that continues to divide the public opinion. There are plenty of nice places to eat both in Christiania and the rest of Christianshavn.

Tivoli is a nice but somewhat expensive experience (85 dkk just for the entrance - and even more on friday night http://www.tivoli.dk/composite-4629.htm). Be there after dark - the lights are spectacular.

There are quite a lot of free entertainment in copenhagen as well, depending on the weekdays you are there... If you give me the weekdays of your stay, I will be happy to give you info. Also, are you travelling as a family or adults only?

Thx, we are 2 adults.we arrive at international airport from Berlin at 11am so allowing for customs etc, say Wednesday lunchtime. and leave 12.30pm Friday for a 3pm international flight to Tokyo.

So 2 half days and one full day. Also being in the northern hemisphere it will be lighter until later at night.

The ideas you gave sound good, we are used to walking.and yes we do want to see the Tivoli gardens.

Also quite happy to spend more DKK, ie 3000 but just did not want too many left over, that is all.

Everyone letting me know what things cost is a great help too.

I was just in Copenhagen a few days ago for a reggae concert. Even though I saw online that Copenhagen was the 6th most expensive city in the World. I think it was a bit exagerated. The concert was 250Kroner ( $50-55), not horrible, drinks around $7-8. The best deal I found in Copenhagen were the free bike rentals. You can spot them because they are attached to a chain and you must put in 20kroner to get it out. But, you can return it to any other chain in the city and get you Kroner back. Also, I found the cheapest place to eat amazingly was 7-11. Most of them have great deli%26#39;s with, these delicious chicken on a stick things, they also have 8-9 other good pastries. They were 2 for $5. I usually had 2 or 3 druing the day, and packed my bag with beer or a bottle of wine. You can drink in public there. Take advantage of that. and Christiana is worth a visit too, whether you smoke weed or not. But if you do all the better. have fun!!!!
