My son is going camping to Denmark in July - Anyone got any idea about the weather ther at this time? Not sure what sort of rating to get for his sleeping bag etc.
July is usually a very nice month in Denmark with some days of temperatures above 30C.
The nights are long and warm - ususally about 15C.
However it can rain - so the most important camping equipment will be a tent that can withstand heavy rain when a thunder shower pass.

It sounds as if you%26#39;ve heard that you could go to any restaurant and get food and drink to go and then save 50 percent.
That is not the case. Many restaurants do not sell food or drink to go.
However it is true that generally prices at take away places are cheaper than in restaurants.
Hi,I am going to arrive at CPH Airport at 13:05 on 21/5/2009 at Terminal 2 and I want to take the train from CPH Airport to Copenhagen Central Station as I will stay at The Palace Hotel.
As I read in the past reviews, I have to go to Terminal 3 to catch the train wich costs 28.50 DKK per sigle which includes 3 zones and takeS 30 minutes.
My questions are:
1. Is it really cheaper than takeing a taxi directly to the hotel from the airport?
2.How to go from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3? Can I use te free bus or the distance is easy to walk and where can I foind the bus in Terminal 2?
3.I planning to go to Malmo on 22/5/2009, does the discounts card includes the trains To/From Malmo or not?
4.I will leave CPH Airport to Milan Malpensa on 24/5/2009 at 8:25 AM, is it ok to take the train back again and can I buy a return ticket from the airport or it%26#39;s better to take a taxi?

1. A lot. A taxi will run you around 200 DKK.
2. They are not huge and are connected. Easy walking distance. 5-7 minutes maximum.
3. Don%26#39;t know about that one. Someone else?
4. No need to buy a return. Just buy a ticket at central station. Again, a taxi is of course easy, but about 150-170 kroner more expensive than the train.

Just at a supplement to the answer from DonThomas:
A one way ticekt for the trip from the airport to central Copenhagen is now 31,50 dkr but still way cheaper than a taxi.
The trip takes exactly 13 minutes - a lot faster than a taxi at most times of day.
All passengers leave the bagage claim in Terminal 3 - so even if you land at terminal 2 you will have walked to the terminal where the train stops before you go through customs.
And no discount cards like clip cards, Copenhagen Card or a 24 hour card does not cover the trip to Malmö.
You buy the ticket at the stations just before you want to go.

Can anyone could recommend a good and inexpensive place to try smorrebrod near Tivoli (but not inside)? A food court or take out type place is even better, because I%26#39;d like to make it a quick lunch. For a more specific budget, how about under 60 DKK...

Hmm, this is a tough one. There is a take-out place very close to Tivoli on Vesterbrogade - right in front of the central train station, next to the SAS Royal. However, I have read some bad reviews about the place but haven%26#39;t tried it myself. You could perhaps stop by and have a look at the window display and judge for yourself?
Also, in the area is Ritz smørrebrød on vester voldgade 8, right by Rådhuspladsen. Haven%26#39;t had first hand experience at that one either since they always seem to be closed when I am around, but have heard that it is quite ok and prices are reasonable.
The best place to get take out smørrebrød in CPH is hands down Aamands on Østre Farimagsgade. This is nowhere near Tivoli, but if you happen to be in the area (e.g to see the SMK art museum, the lakes or Østerbro)this is an absolute must. Smørrebrød and service is excellent, prices in the 40-50dkk range. Had take out from there myself today and it was very, very delicious, decorative and nicely packed. Not much help for you if you need to be near Tivoli, though.
Perhaps someone has first hand knowledge of the other two places?

You really have not tried smørrebrød if you get cheap stuff for take out, it%26#39;s just not the same sitting somewhere with food that%26#39;s inferior on a paper plate messing with a plastic knife and fork.
Part of the experience is to visit one of the nice older places like Told og Snaps, Huset med det Grønne Træ, Tivolihallen (close to Tivoli and a wonderful place)
Even a place like Grøften in Tivoli is part of the magic.

I%26#39;m in Copenhagen a very short time, less than 24 hours on a stopover. I feel it is a more effective use of my time to just try smorrebrod quickly so I can spend more of my afternoon visiting attractions with limited hours. I%26#39;m not looking for the full experience this time.

I know where Bon Appetit is located, but I thought it was more of a sandwich place, so had not thought of the place for smørrebrød. If they do indeed have smørrebrød this might be a good option for you. The one I thought of is on the opposite side of Vesterbrogade and a bit closer to Rådhuspladsen, next to a pharmacy and the SAS Royal. I walked past it the other day and it really did not look too exciting. Ritz on Vester Voldgade is just an additional 4 minute walk from there and it might well be worth the extra effort if Bon Appetit does not have smørrebrød.

We will be visiting Copenhagen in August and will have the day free before boarding our cruise ship and are interested in seeing some of the major highlights by bicycle. Has anyone done the %26quot;Bike Copenhagen with Mike%26quot; tour? If so, was it enjoyable and worth the time? Also, my husband and I are both in our late 50%26#39;s and don%26#39;t want to do anything too strenuous but are certainly capable of biking 10-15 miles over fairly flat terrain.

Well, I don%26#39;t know anything about mike, but I can tell you that Copenhagen is about the flattest capital you can find. You%26#39;ll be hard pressed to find a bump in the road.

Biking with Mike is decidedly the best way for any kind of traveler to see this fabulous city. I’m a veteran two-wheeling tourist, and much too independent – and impatient – to do tours. Happily I made the exception here because I had little time and wanted to get the lay of the land quickly so I could explore on my own more efficiently later. The one drawback of sightseeing while cycling is that you have to stop to look at the map, and some areas of Copenhagen can be rather confusing. So, having someone give me a crash course (not literally) on how to get around was great.
I found the tour was a rare bargain in this expensive city, and very convenient. No need for a reservation that would tie me down, I could just show up at the central train station at 10 any day of the week rain or shine and he’d be there. The standard tour is about three hours and takes in all the must-sees, with just the right number of stops and short talks about the history, etc. Mike also threw in a bit of social commentary I found interesting and insightful, but he also cordially invited me to tell him to shut up anytime I found the “guidance” boring or annoying. But he’s so well-traveled (and multi-lingual) and delightful that I didn’t have to employ that option and actually pried him for even more info and insights.
Mike also offers an “alternative” tour, which my group opted for, that includes some of the grittier neighborhoods and some off-the-beaten track sights, such as a little enclave of tiny bungalows with lovely gardens. They were built early last century to give urban families a retreat from the grind of the inner-city, where some of the poorer neighborhoods became death traps during an epidemic. The alternative tour is also just a nice ride and, though it added an hour to the tour, there was no extra charge.
Copenhagen is mostly flat and Mike’s ride is quite slow and very safe. I was lucky my group was small even though the summer rush had already started, but you can tell Mike can manage a crowd the way he nimbly herds any stagglers. My group included a mutinous 7-year-old who cried through the first half of the trip, then threw his bike down and just started walking away. His family (I was surprised to see because they were Americans who typically coddler their kids) said something like “Just let him go, he always does this.” But Mike retrieved him and whatever he said on their walk back jollied the little fella enough to get him to hang on through the remaining two hours with no more tears!
I’m always trying to convince people whatever their fitness level that bikes are the best way to sightsee. It’s just too slow and hard on the feet -- or the wallet -- to do otherwise, especially if you don’t have a lot of time. Copenhagen is particularly the case for this: It isn’t called the world’s best biking city for nothing! There are bike lanes on every major road and many of the smaller streets, and the paths along the many waterways and parks are wonderful. But still, though it is so user friendly, even for hard-core bikers like me, getting all the must-sees in without getting lost or having constantly to consult the map gave me plenty of time to explore on my own later, and Mike is great for giving tips on how to do just that – and just about anything else you want to know about the city.
Obviously, I can’t say enough about how great this tour is. I hope all will try it. And once you’re hooked on the touring on two-wheels thing, start lobbying your city to get better bike paths!
Has anyone been to Lego Land in Denmark recently? I have a child who is loving legos these days and am considering a trip in the next few years. I was interested in visiting there when I was a kid, so I am wondering if the quality and ambience is still high and worth a trip.

I havent been to Legoland since I was a child, but one of my friends went there with her child and they both loved it, so I am guessing it is still a good experience :).
You should however be aware that Legoland is in Jutland wich is in an entirely different part of Denmark than Copenhagen, so you would have to rent a car or take the train to get there.

We were there last summer. Very nice, but very expensive. It is smaller than the typical American theme-park, but still provides at least one day of entertainment. The many Lego buildings are amazing. We stayed at the official Legoland Hotel which overlooked the park. Very convenient, but also very expensive. But if you are going to go all the way there why not spend the extra mony and stay on the property.

You need to adjust your budget or find someone to share with.

BEWARE ads on Craigslist and expat sites. Many are scams. If the English is bad, if the pictures look like the interiors of US homes, if the prices are too good to be true, if the contact is via hotmail or yahoo mail... it%26#39;s a scam.
I agree with the first reply that 6 weeks would be next to impossible--especially at 4000 DKK per month. You can try DSB.dk for %26quot;fremleje%26quot; (sub-lets) as it might be possible to find a short-term flat while someone is away on vacation, but your Danish needs to be good enough to understand the details there, and something in that price range will be snatched-up within an hour or 2 of being posted.

The 1.st link is a paper where private poeple put in ads about renting out rooms and apartments. The prices varies a lot, and it canbe dificult to get the best of them, as there are lots of poeple trying. You need a telephone and lots of patience.
In most - if not all - cases, You will have to put down 3 months of rent for deposit. You%26#39;ll get it back when You move out.

The trains leave from the Central Station in Copenhagen and has a stop at Copenhagen Airport before proceeding to Sweden.
The Intercity and X2000 seem to be cheaper if you book well in advance. Other trains seem to be same price whether you book early or not.
You do not need to book your tickets in advance.

SJ.se have been advertising 95 SEK each way for some months now in Copenhagen newspapers (I don%26#39;t think you could walk it that cheaply!). A quick check for you, picking a random date late June (24th) found seats for 90 SEK, with a total travel time of just 3 hours, 33 minutes from Köbenhavn H to Göteborg C. A seat reservation adds 41 SEK. Or, first class showing this date for 185 SEK which includes seat reservation (+ newspapers, coffee, tea, wifi internet).
How much does it cost to take a taxi from the airport to the cruise ship terminal? How long does it take to get there? My flight arrives around 4:30 pm.
Are there any transportation alternatives to do the same trip? And how much and how long?

A taxi will cost about DKK 180-200 and take about 20-25 mins. Could be slightly more as you arrive during the afternoon rush hour.
There are public transportation alternatives, but as cruise ships dock at 3-4 different locations in the port, more specific information about your cruise ship and date is necessary to give you exact information about the alternatives.
Denmark do not use Euros, but Kroner.

Emerald Princess will be docked at quay c245 (Kronlobsbassin) in Copenhagen Free Port on August 4th.
I suggest you take the train (DKK 31.50/pp) from CPH to the Central Station and deposit your luggage there for the day (there are both lockers and a serviced cloak room) and do some sightseeing in the city, e.g. a stroll down Stroget (pedestrian zone) to Kongens Nytorv, a canal cruise, Tivoli Gardens etc.).
From the Central Station you can either take the S-train (DKK 21/pp) to Nordhavn station and walk to the cruise ship (about 1 km) or take a taxi (DKK 100-120).

I assume you mean taking the metro into Copenhagen and not Helsinki, but yes that would be my suggestion.
Hilton at the airport is in an area with no dining option.
If you get the metro into the city, get off at Kongens Nytorv then you are right downtown and have many options to choose from.

Just heard from a friend that there%26#39;s an excellent Italian restaurant in Best Western at the airport. The hotel is much cheaper than Hilton and about 5 mins taxi drive away from the airport.
Their group stayed there before flying to Greenland. And BTW Ilulissat was awesome, I was told.
What is the best way to get from Copenhagen to Aero? I know there is a ferry from Svendborg, so I suppose my question is really, what is the best way to get from Copenhagen to Svendborg? Is there a direct train? And about how long does it take? Finally, would it be worth renting a car and driving instead?
The trip takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes - you either go by train to Odense and then continue on a local train to Svendborg or you get off the train at Nyborg and continue by bus.

Renting a car is not cheap in Denmark - gas is very expensive and you have to pay to cross the bridge between Sjælland and Fyn - it%26#39;s 215dkr each way.
If you do rent a car be sure to get a reservation for the ferry crossing.

Every third train leaving the airport goes to Odense - if you want a stopover just grab any train from the airport they run every 20 minutes - the trip to the central station tages 23 minutes.
The direct train to Odense leaves the airport at 40 minutes past the hour.

Another correction, trains between Airport and Copenhagen C go every 10 mins (during normal hours).
I saw many advice to take the train from Airport to the main train station, but it looks like the Airport train station is near Terminal 1 and I will have to catch a shuttle bus to it from Terminal 2.
Instead I found that there is the 5A bus stop close to Terminal 2, and the bus will take me slightly closer to the Marriott Copenhagen.
We are a party of 2 and will each have a piece of luggage and a carryon bag. Will the bus allow us on board?
If not, how far is the train station from Terminal 2? It might be %26quot;easier%26quot; to walk to train station instead of waiting for the shuttle bus.

At CPH airport you may land at T1 or T2, but there is only one place you get your luggage from and only one exit from there. When you get out of there the train and the metro stations are very close. I suggest you to take the metro - fast, no problem with the luggage. Norreport station is in the city center.

Actually I was reading the map wrong previously. The train station is actually under Terminal 3. I was looking at the legend and confusing that with the actual station. Oops. Should be more careful reading.
Don%26#39;t worry about the luggage, I have never had a problem, and I usually have something like 30 kg with me. In the busses there is a section from mothers, old ppl, handicaps - you can place you luggage there. Plus it is a bus from the airport - usualy people with luggage takes use it.
But again - metro is the best, then train and finally - the bus.
Since your hotel is Marriott, train or bus 5A from airport to Central Station would be simpler. Metro would require a change at Nørreport to a train headed back to Central Station. (Central Station is not served by the Metro). Bus 5A takes a longer, but it does stop a bit closer to this hotel.
Airport to Marriott is easiest by taking the train to Copenhagen Central Station and then taking bus number 66 from just outside the railway station. Trains go every 10 mins and bus 66 goes 4 to 5 times per hour. It%26#39;s door to door service, the stop is about 10 steps from the Marriott entrance.

Just got back from the Marriott, lovely hotel and really enjoyed Copenhagen.
As advised, take the train and walk the last bit, it%26#39;s not far. If you come out of the station and have Tovoli in front of you, then turn right and walk straight down to the canal. If you come out the front entrance, turn right, follow the path and you%26#39;ll see Tivoli in front of you, then turn right and keep walking.
It helped me knowing where Tivoli and the Radisson SAS hotel were, to get my bearings.

We are travelling by car to Karlslunde Strand apartments [ folk ferie ] in August from Esjberg ferry terminal.
Has anyone stayed here recently? We are a family of 5 and looking for activities for the children aged 6 to 11 years.

First of all it%26#39;s very easy to get to Karlsunde from Esbjerg... Motorway all the way except the last 2 km...!! - and should take around 2.5-3 hours to complete.
Of-course visit to th nice beach is a must. Other than that there are plenty of stuff to drive to - for instance:
(I have focused on the kids and stuff not in Copenhagen. There are LOTS more if you also choose to drive to Copenhagen)
1) Køge mini by. Complete city build of small model houses. Very impressive.

2) BonBon land. VERY good for kids!!!! Don%26#39;t miss.

i am english and my wife works at the holiday centre!!! i have to agree wiyh the previous post on things to do, knutenborg is great but go on a week day as it gets too busy at weekens. enjoy your stay
