copenhagen card

I have some question about CPHCard and would appreciate if someone could help !

1. from the previous post, i learn that i can buy the cph card at the airport information desk and the use it straight away to the city center by metro. pls correct me if i%26#39;m wrong.

2. does the cph card have any limitation of the zone ?

3. does it cover the train to malmo and from malmo back to cph ?

by the way, is there any tourist information center at the airport?

thanks.

Yes you can buy the card at two places in the airport - the servicedesk on the lefthand side right after you exit customs or at the ticket counter by the trains in terminal 3 (straight ahead after you exit customs).

And you can use it right away if you get it validated.

The card has some limitations on public transport. It does not cover all of Sjælland - but it covers at least half - you%26#39;ll probably get a map when you buy the card - but you are good for all of the area north of Copenhagen, it%26#39;s once you get south of Roskilde and/or Køge you hit the limit.

No the card does not cover a trip to Malmö.

And no there%26#39;s no tourist information at the airport. The service desk can offer you some help, but if you are going to the central station the main tourist office is right across from the station and Tivoli.

thank you for your information. it%26#39;s very helpful to us !

|||

I suggest that you have all of your tourist info in order when you arrive and I have been told that the card is not available when the info. desk is closed and they have been closed at certain hours late eve.

thank you and we will definitely bring all the tourist informations with us.

We arrive in Copenhagen on Sat at about 4 pm, and leave on a cruise on Monday afternoon. From what I read, you can buy a 24 or 72 hour card. The card is 225dkk for 24 hours and double for 72 hours. We are planning to go to Tivoli. Is it worth it?

|||

If you are only planning on visiting, it%26#39;s not worth it. Entrance to Tivoli is DKK 85.

Whether it is worth it depends on whether you will utilise

- Free entry to about 60 museums and attractions

- Free transport by train, bus and Metro – also from/to the airport

- Discounts on restaurants, car hire, shops and sights

As Hans states, if You%26#39;re only gonna go to Tivoli it%26#39;s not worth it at all. Ticket from the airport to Tivoli(Main train station) will be 33 kroner each, and entrance to Tivoli 85 each.

There is also something called a clipcard, You can get it for both 2-3-4-5-6-7-8 and 9 zones, but You will probably only need a 2-zones card. Most of Copenhagen are covered by 2 zones. It gives a good rebate and can be used for all the different kinds of public transportation in CPH.

A 2-zone card is 130 Dkr. with 10 clips. Normal price (cash paid to busdriver) is 21 kr. for 2 zones. 1 clip are valid for an hour, and You can change from bus to another or to metro or S-train within this hour.

Thanks so much for info. It is not easy to find it all on the internet.

When I am at the airport, can I buy this card and if so, how many zones is it to Central station. Also, we are leaving from Freeport on the cruise. Any suggestion on whether on the best way to get there? Is it practical to use public transportation and if so, how? I understand a taxi from Tivoli is about 150-175DKK. We will be travelling on Monday afternoon around 1 PM.

From the airport to Central Station is 3 zones, but you can still buy a 2-zone clipcard and just punch accordingly, e.g. if you are 2 persons you need 6 zones to go from airport to Central Station which equals 3 punches on a 2-zone card.

To the Freeport you can take the S-train from Central Station to Nordhavn Station (2 zones) and walk about 1100 m to the dock.

Just wanna ad - to Hans%26#39; splendid answer - that the trip from Tivoli(Main train station across street) to Nordhavn station with the S-train is 2 zones = 1 clip each.

If We say that You ONLY use public transport for the airport to Tivoli and Tivoli to Nordhavn st. You will be left with 5 clips(asuming You%26#39;re 2 persons travelling). I%26#39;m not sure, but maybe You will be able to get those refunded at Nordhavn st?! I%26#39;ll bet that Hans knows the answer to that.

Alternatively You can buy cash-tickets from the busdriver. That would add uo to about 110 Dkr in total - the 2-zone clip-card is 130 Dkr.

But if You buy the card You also got the freedom to go somewhere spontaniously without having money up every time...

You can buy clipcards the same 2 places in the airport where You can also buy the CPH-card.
