wildlife

Planning a trip throughout Denmark.. but I%26#39;m not on a mood of bars, pubs, boites etc..

About the Dannish wildlife, what are the must-see destinations? what about their prices?

|||

I wouldn%26#39;t call it wildlife...

Denmark has nothing larger or wilder than differente types of deer.

And then of cause birds, foxes, badgers, squirrel and animals like that.

Living in the wild presenting itself to the lucky observer in the totally free Danish contryside.

Just north of Copenhagen is the royal deer garden where most of the differete types of deer can be seen - quite easily actually just by strolling through.

If you are interested in marine life - this is an option:

Kattegatcenteret in Grenaa in Jutland:

Try the Copenhagen ZOO haha...just a joke...I guess that one has to be really entusiastic(read: Nerd) about specific danish wildlife to think much about it, I guess. Especially when coming from a country as Brazil which got much more to offer in that regard.

But have a look at this website from The Danish Society for Nature Conservation. You can cange language in the menu(top right corner)

I hope You%26#39;ll enjoy Your trip to DK. May the weather be with You.

Thanks.. but indeed when I said wildlife I meant wildlife/outdoors/landscapes etc. I´ve read it is interesting to ride a bike in Compenhagen in order to see the city´s places.. is it possible to walk at any part of the coast area going to city by city due to their proximity to each other? is it allowed to ride bikes in the national wildlife parks? Are there good beaches in the summer? what about the islands? Can I sleep in a small island for tourism?

How is the weather in Denmark like in the summer? is it rainy? I didnt consider that :(

Hi

First of all. Denmark is not really a wildlife country.

You ask for beaches, we got some, but I guess you can find them better at home ; )

An interesting island is Bornholm. You can go there by train from Copenhagen through Sweden, and a ferry from Ystad, Sweden. The trip takes about three hours and it%26#39;s a place with nice nature, rocks and beaches

A lot of people rent bicycles on the island. Just be aware that you will need some accomodation when you go there, because all the cool nature is in the north end off the island. So you will have to use a few days over there.

There is also the Swedish island Hven, it can be reached by ferry from Nyhavn, Copenhagen, it%26#39;s great for a day trip, it is also a place where people often rent a bike and take a trip around the island

Then we have Møns klint a very interesting coast at the island Møn, south of Zealand. It can be reached by train and bus from copenhagen and my guess is that it will take three to four hours.

If you are interested in forrest then you probably should go to Sweden. You don%26#39;t need to go far by train from Copenhagen, to reach some nice forrest

Hope it helped you.

I hope it can help you

And then the weather. It can be anything from windy and rainy with about 18 degrees celsius to nice and sunny with 35 degrees celsius. And it can change from day to day. So we never know ; )

|||

Thanks, DNIS.. good information.. places like I live next to equator has only two seasons: the drought one and the rainy one, so sometimes I forget it is not like that at other parts of world..

About beaches in Denmark, well, I know there are good beaches here even in the winter, but since I would be in Denmark, of course, I%26#39;d want to go there to take advantage of it and see some dannish beauties :oD hehe...

About wildlife, I was looking forward to seeing some kind of bear.. but I guess there isnt any bear there, as in Brazil :(

About bike riding, well, since denmark is not big, I was wondering if I could even take my bike there and make some trip by bike.. I really want to spend a good amount of time riding.. you know, like a good backpacker.. :oD and then I have another question: there is place in the dannish highways for bikes? Or is it madness to go city by city by bike? do they allow bikes in trains?

Of course, I%26#39;m willing to take a boat cruise from Denmark to see the Fjords in Norway.. and Legoland is the obligatory destination for me.

and finally, heheehe.., another two questions: why do the dannish sites show prices in DKK not in Euro? and is it true the assumption that almost everybody in Denmark can speak english, thus I would have problem with communication?

|||

There is a nice new beach in Copenhagen:

www.amager-strand.dk/ServiceMenu/English

Or you can take a swim in the harbour:

aok.dk/byen-rundt/…

You will also find nice beaches on the west coast of Jutland, if you go there.

For bears you need to go to North Sweden or Norway.

Denmark is a country with alot of advantages for bicycles. You can bring your bike on the train, there is special paths for bikes a lot of places and cars are aware and respect the bicyclists.

If you are in to biking, it is a great way to get around in Copenhagen. But it is also a good way to explore the rest of Denmark. Here is my suggestion to a short trip from Copenhagen to Helsingør (Elsinore). Go by Strandvejen a road that follows the sea and beaches north of Copenhagen. It%26#39;s a 40 kilometer trip along nice beaches and big villas. When you get to Helsingør, you will see the castle of Hamlet, Kronborg or you can go by a 15 minute ferry trip to Sweden.

We still have our own currency Danish Kroner, thats why.

Yes almost all Danes understands and speaks english ok.

|||

Hi,

The Danish currency is Danish Kroner (DKK) and not Euro.

Most people in Denmark can make themselves understandable in English, but will not find many that speak Portuguese.

Denmark is a bicycling country. I just heard on TV that Denmark is the country in the world with most bicycles per inhabitants.

There about 10,000 km biking routes in Denmark and there are special biking lanes along major roads.

You can bring a bicycle on most trains in Denmark. Only exception IC Lyn I can think about. You can find timetables here: http://www.rejseplanen.dk/ Change language at the bottom of the page. Click %26quot;Expand your search%26quot; and mark %26quot;I need to bring a bicycle%26quot;.

Skånes Djurpark (%26quot;The Animal Park of Skåne%26quot;) is located near Höör in the central part of Skåne (%26quot;Scania%26quot;), the southernmost Swedish province. You can get there by train from Copenhagen. The Park has all the Nordic wild animals in an environment that is very very close to their natural environment (forest setting for the most part). You can get more info on their website:

www.skanesdjurpark.se

There%26#39;s an English version (click on the Union Jack, i.e. the flag of the U.K.).
