Clip Cards

Am a little confused by this post, this was for info to a different hotel than mine (Le Meridian I think, I am staying at The Square;

%26quot;There are 2 zone clip cards (130 DKK), 3 zone clip cards (170 DKK), and more. The most efficient one in this case would be, for the 2 of you travelling together, to buy 1 two-zone clip card.

You can purchase a 2-zone clip card at the DSB window or from the ticket machines in the airport arrivals hall.

Clip cards cover busses, trains, metro and water taxi in Copenhagen area. Insert the clip card into the yellow validation boxes before boarding your first form of transport. This stamps the date, zone, and time and removes 1 %26quot;clip%26quot; each time you insert it. (Note: the metro validation boxes are quiet--be careful not to clip too many times!).

Trip 1: you will be (2 people travelling together) x (3 zones each). Insert the 2 zone clip card into the yellow box 3 times before boarding. This covers your entire journey from airport to hotel.

When you change from metro to bus, show the driver your already-validated clip-card. It is good for 1 hour from validation time in this case.

Trip 2: from hotel to cruise: (2 people travelling together) x (2 zones each person for this trip) = 2 clips on your 2-zone clip card.

Trip 3: cruise to airport: reverse trip 1.

Total clips in this scenario should be 8. Clip card comes with 10, so you%26#39;d have to 2 play with. You could use them, for example, if you%26#39;re out at the Mermaid and decide you%26#39;d rather take bus 26 back to the hotel instead of walking back%26quot;.

If I am going from the airport to %26quot;The Square%26quot; hotel aren%26#39;t I traveling thru 3 zones? Even so I would still buy a 2 zone clip card? Is a %26quot;clip%26quot; a trip, whether by bus or train. I am going to be in Copenhagen for a couple days prior to my cruise. Would the above clip card still be ok for me. Haven%26#39;t made sightseeing plans yet so don%26#39;t know where I will be going.

Thanks

The quoted text is my reply to two (2) people travelling together for a specific itinerary that they outlined in their post here.

From airport to The Square Hotel, you will indeed travel through 3 zones. A 2-zone clip card would still be o.k., but you would have to buy a %26quot;tillæg%26quot; (add-on) for the extra zone from/to the airport. Tillæg costs 10,50 DKK currently.

Most attractions are within 2 zones from the center of Copenhagen. One %26quot;clip%26quot; = one trip on public transports within 1 hour of time stamped on the ticket when you %26quot;clip%26quot; it in the yellow box before boarding (busses have this at the entrance).

What is the difference between my trip %26amp; the trip you explained for the other travelers. I am going from airport to hotel %26amp; cruise ship to airport. I didn%26#39;t see where they needed the %26quot;add-on%26quot;

Thanks

As far as you%26#39;ve revealed, you are only 1 person travelling. The other post made it clear they are 2 travelling together, so the clips work out since it%26#39;s multiples of 2 (2x3zones from\to airport, 2x2 zones to\from cruise, etc.) so they don%26#39;t need an add-on.

oops, sorry, there are 2 of us

I have been reading this information regarding public transportation and have a few questions. What is a Flexcard and what is a Clipcard? How much is a taxi from the airport to the downtown hotels?

I will be visiting Copenhagen for six days before taking a Baltic Cruise. Which %26#39;card%26#39; should I use while sight seeing around the city?

Can these cards be used to visit Malmo, Sweden or do I need something else?

Actually this zone thing is difficult to understand. Buying a 2 zone clipcard to travel

thru 3 zones doesn’t make sense. However would like to confirm if this is correct;

1. Buy a 2 zone clipcard %26amp; “clip” it 2 times before boarding train from airport.

2. Get off train at Central Station %26amp; walk to hotel (The Square – 2 min walk I’m told)

3. Take bus from hotel to cruise dock – 2 clips (what bus number?)

4. After cruise, take bus from cruise dock to Central Station – 3 clips (what bus number to train station?) then train to airport.

Am I right?

Jjron -- with 2 travelling together on a 2-zone clip card ...

1. Airport to hotel -- Clip it *3* times. 2 people x 3 zones = 6 zones. To clip (ie, pay for) 6 zones on a 2 zone clip card, you clip it *3* times, again, for 2 people travelling together. (One person travelling alone would clip *1* time on a 2-zone clip card, and purchase a tillæg to cover the extra zone).

2. Ok. Maybe a little more than 2 minutes... 5 if you walk very fast.

3. Take bus #26 from hotel to cruise dock. Only 1 clip for each person travelling on a 2-zone clip card, since this trip is within 2 zones.

4. After cruise, take bus #26 from cruise dock to Central Station, then train to airport. 3 clips total (reverse of trip 1. above).

So all together, with 2 of you sharing a 2-zone clip card in this scenario, you would use 8 clips total, and have 2 clips left to play with.

Done - Thanks

When I look at a map of train stations I see Vesterport %26amp; kobenhavn H. Vesterport looks closer to The Square is that correct?

|||

Maybe, but the train from the airport does not stop at Vesterport. These 2 stations are very near each other.

Am now told that our Cruise ship is leaving from the Freeport Pier. Can I still take the bus from the hotel to the Freeport Pier?
