Cheapest way across the Oresund from Copenhagen to Malmo

Hi,

My wife and I are visiting Copenhagen and Malmo from Germany for 2 days on 11-Jul-2009 and our hotel is booked in Malmo.

Since this is our first visit, can someone please help us and let us know which is the cheapest way to travel from Copenhagen to Malmo by public transport and back if we want to travel multiple times? For example, we were hoping to be able to first check in to our hotel in Malmo and hence travel there from Copenhagen airport, then come back to Copenhagen for sight seeing, return to our hotel in Malmo in the evening and finally come back to Copenhagen for taking our return flight. Therefore, it will be of great help to know if there is some cheap option by public transport (train or bus) to travel to and fro between Copenhagen and Malmo across the Oresund multiple times.

We will be extremely grateful if someone could help us with this information also let us know how much the costs could be.

Hi,

http://www.swebusexpress.se/ is the cheapest - SEK 45/on-way provided you buy tickets on their website.

The train cost about DKK 80 one-way, but has connections every 20 min.

Hi Hans,

Thanks a lot for the details shared, that was quite helpful.

It appears that though the bus is much cheaper, it is not very frequent. Hence, are there any train tickets which offer reduced prices for multiple journeys across the bridge? If I buy the train tickets in Malmo instead of Copenhagen, will it be cheaper? Also, is it required to buy the train tickets in advance like the bus tickets or is it possible to buy the train tickets on the spot at the station for the same price? Lastly, are there any day travel passes in Copenhagen for unlimited public transport use for 1 day, and if so, are these valid for travel across the Oresun to Malmo too?

Hope you don%26#39;t mind the number of questions I ended up asking, but any further details would be extremely valuable. Thanks a lot once again in advance.

You can check the ticketing from Malmo (Discount Card/Duo Family) here:

skanetrafiken.se/templates/…

You can buy train tickets at the station (ticket office/machines).

You can buy a 24 hour ticket that gives unlimited travel on trains, metro and buses in Copenhagen for DKK 120.

CPH Card gives unlimited travel on trains, metro and buses plus free entrance to some attractions and discounts to others for DKK 225 (24 h)/450 (72 h).

None of these cards are valid for travel across Oresund.

Hi Hans,

Thanks a lot!

Hi Hans,

One question, is the 24-hour public transport ticket valid on all the waterbuses (boats) too?
