Brussels Airlines (http://www.brusselsairlines.com/com/) have flights from Copenhagen to Brussels.

Eurolines (http://www.eurolines-travel.com/) have buses from Copenhagen to Lille.

You can find timetables for most trains in Europe here: http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en

There are 5 daily direct ICE/EC trains from Copenhagen to Hamburg.

Hans I have checked for the direct trains from CPH to Lille but cannot get any fares, or other details. By a roundabout route I searched, it seems that the direct train may take too long for our old bones so I%26#39;m wondering if we could break the journey in Hamburg overnight and continue the following day. Any ideas on costs for such a ticket ? Thanks Ross

Hi Ross,

There are no direct trains from Copenhagen to Lille. Minimum changes are 3 (Hamburg, Cologne and Brussels).

When too many countries are involved (in this case Denmark, Germany, Belgium and France) the DB website is not able to calculate a fare.

Copenhagen-Hamburg: Normal fare EUR 78.80 - Savings fares from EUR 29.

Hamburg-Brussels: Normal fare from EUR 107.20 - Savings fares from EUR 39

Brussels-Lille on Eurostar (https://www.eurostar.com) the Senior (over 60) one-way fare is from EUR 14.40

Saving fares on DB have to be booked well in advance (maximum 89 days). Number of tickets is limited, use of selected train is required and tickets are non-changeable and non-refundable.

Hans thanks for the reply. Have looked again for just Hamburg to Brussels and it comes up with %26quot;single ride no longer available%26quot; Does this mean one-way no longer available ? Also SNCF fare shows %26quot;compulsory return%26quot; Brussels to Lille. Is there an explabation for this ?

%26quot;single ride no longer available%26quot; means that savings fares at this particular price is sold out. You will be able to buy tickets at another fare. Trains in Europe very seldom sell out.

SNCF have several sites. I don%26#39;t know which one you visited.

It seems to be very important for you to make this trip by train even if it takes a lot longer than flying to Bruxelles and then go by train for the last part of the journey. And even if it%26#39;s more expensive than flying I suspect ;)

If that%26#39;s the case this homepage might help you:

There should be tips on how to get good deals on tickets if you buy them in the US:
