75 year old single male accommodation

Hello

My Dad is travelling alone to Copenhagen mid August. He arrives late by train and departs after 2 nights, early in the morning again by train.

I am reading different reports about staying near the train station, however due to his transport and times of departure and arrival it makes sense to stay there.

Would you be recommending against this and that he grabs a cab to travel elsewhere. I have read about the Axel Hotel and thinking of putting him in there. He is on a budget, but not a backpackers one. A friend, social environment would be good, but figure he can get company with others on a day tour.

Thanks for your time.

I consider Axel Hotel an absolute nice place. I%26#39;ve stayed there once, for just 1 night, and I found the place to be very satisfying(I%26#39;m %26quot;only%26quot; 35, but it would be just as fine for a 75-yr-old)

Regarding %26quot;staying around the main train st.%26quot; - it%26#39;s true that there is a %26quot;right%26quot; and %26quot;wrong%26quot; side of the railroadtracks, and Axel is a bit on the %26quot;wrong%26quot; side, but You can choose to walk another way to the hotel(through Vesterbrogade) than the way throgh Istedgade. In Istedgade one can meet the occasional prostitute, pusher or homeless person, and will def. run into a couple of pornshops. But really, it%26#39;s not that bad, and certainly does%26#39;nt bother most poeple.

One can choose to go through Vesterbrogade instead of Istedgade, and that %26quot;problem%26quot; will be eliminated. Also take a look at %26quot;Hotel Alexandra%26quot;, situated right beside Town Hall Square, Tivoli and the best shoppingareas in CPH. Prices are reasonable, and it%26#39;s a very nice place.

Look at the hotel here - change language in top left corner.

I hope Your father will enjoy his stay in CPH.

Perfect advice. Thank you very much. Clear and concise. The hotel looks very good and fits nicely into Dad%26#39;s budget. Next thing is I need to find the perfect day tour to show him CPH in one day, in English.

I would recommend him taking a boat tour. The boat departs from Nyhavn and if he takes Nettobådene it is only 30DKK. DFDS are closest to Kgs. Nytorv but if he walks 100 m along the canal he will see Nettobådene, the guided tour is in both Dansih and English. The ride takes 1 hour.

I think the Nettoboats are only 20dkr, and the DFDS is 80dkr.

I just took a tour with the Nettoboates last week, and the guide was excellent, but a real talkingmachine. But OK, she also had to tell everything twice - first in danish and then in english.

Well, I take it back, but my wife%26#39;s just corrected me - she claims it%26#39;s 40dkr for adults and 15 for kids on the Nettoboates. I%26#39;m not sure what%26#39;s right anymore....

|||

Whow a lot of same-time-posts there. I%26#39;m happy to be corrected by Hans, cause%26#39; he always now the right answer to these things - and now I can tell my wife she is not right...LOL

According to their websites

Nettoboats - the price for adults is DKK 30.
