Copenhagen to Gouda by train with 10 year old son

Hi,

I am currently in Copenhagen with my son visiting relatives, and we want to go to Gouda, where we have another relative. My son would love to travel during the night just to experience a couchette train. Will it be too expensive, what are my other options?

Thanks

Every night at 6.53 p.m a night train leaves Copenhagen headed down through Europe.

It will bring you to Utrecht at 9.34 the next morning. From Utrecht it%26#39;s a 20 minute ride.

You could get to Gouda a little sooner but that would mean changing trains three times - the first at 4.30 in the morning.

Since you are in Denmark now I suggest your relatives call DSB - the Danish train company for a price.

You%26#39;ll have choices from spending the night with four other people in very basic bunk beds without any bedding or getting a compartment for just the two of you with more comfortable beds - the latter will be the most expensive of course.

Don%26#39;t expect it to be cheap but a great experience for your son ;)

Andreadoria56,

Thanks for the information. Since I am still in Denmark, could you please give me advice on what sites are recommended for children? My relative took us to a castle located in Helsinborg, Sweden, and also to Fredericksborg. The first one was more interesting to my son, who is interested in history battles.

Thanks.

He might like the Resistance Museum: www.natmus.dk/sw23424.asp

My suggestions would be:

The arsenal museum:

Or if you have time get on the train to Roskilde and visit the Viking Ship Museum:

Thank you all for your advice. I went with my son to the Arsenal Museum and he loved it! He wants to see the Kronbørg Castle (kind of redundant), and also I would like him to visit the Viking Museum in Roskilde, but maybe spending one more day in Denmark will make it difficult for our trip to Gouda in the Netherlands.

Are there any flights to Utrecht or Gouda from Copenhagen? Maybe we could visit the castle or the museum and take an afternoon flight.

Thanks.
