copenhagen to malmo

Hi

I am going in late October for a few days to Copenhagen with my family and I have seen that it is possible to get a train to malmo in Sweden.

I have a few of questions:

- are the trains easy and fequent?

- how long does it take?

- is malmo an interesting place?

Just wondering if it%26#39;s something we should consider

Hi Nikki,

Trains are departing Copenhagen C every 20 min and the ride takes 35 min.

Malmo is cheaper for shopping than Copenhagen due to the lower value of the Swedish Krone.

You should visit Santiago Calatrava%26#39;s Turning Torso if you go there.

Downtown Malmö is fairly compact with a number of pedestrian only streets, and very close to the train station. Easy to explore on foot.

The Turning Torso is in a somewhat different direction, about 1.5 km or so away from the train station. But you can get a good look at it from a distance. It%26#39;s in a former industrial area (initially Kockums built large ships here, and more recently SAAB built cars here), that%26#39;s been transformed into a residential area with some quite different and interesting designs and ideas. If you%26#39;re interested in architecture and city design make your way all the way out there and wander around.

thanks to both of you - seems it is pretty easy to do - thanks for your advice

I too will be in Copenhagen in October and was thinking of going to Malmo. You have answered all my questions but one. As a Canadian visiting Denmark, is there a problem going to Sweden?

|||

No.

Denmark and Sweden are both members of the Schengen Treaty, so there is no border control.

Is there also a ferry? I am staying near Nyhavn.

Sorry, there are no longer ferries from Copenhagen to Malmo since the opening of the Oresund bridge in 2000.

Thank you all very much. I will be visiting Kristiansand Norway, Copenhagen and now Malmo Sweden. I have never been in that part of Europe before.

Will report back on the various forms after I return.
