Currency

Unfortunately (?) had already booked the DFDS weekend mini-cruise before consulting tripadvisor. Was aware that Denmark had not joined the Euro but have read that some shops (when open!) and restaurants will accept Euros. Is it best to stick to DKK as at this stage we obviously don%26#39;t know where we will be having lunch in Esbjerg? Party of 6 of us going August Bank Holiday weekend so would very much appreciate early reply!

Hi Mags,

Some shops and restaurants may accept EUR, but at an - for you - unfavourable exchange rate.

Earlier this summer a newspaper did a survey on the exchange rate in shops and restaurants on the Danish west coast.

On the day of the survey the official exchange rate was 7.44. The exchange rate in shops and restaurants varied from 7.00 to 7.30 and in most supermarkets the rate was 7.20.

Hi Hans

Thank you so much for your prompt reply and advice - we have decided to take DKK to spend in Esbjerg.

Kind regards

Mags
