We are thinking of staying in this hotel post cruise next summer, but are concerned that some reviews say the neighborhood is bad. Is this the %26quot;red light district%26quot;? We stayed at a hotel in Madrid that had some working girls around the corner, but as long as it isn%26#39;t too wild I didn%26#39;t get too worked up about it. I know it will be light out quite late in the summer, but I do want to feel safe as we are two women traveling together (mother and college aged daughter). It appears to be close to the train station and Tivoli. I also don%26#39;t want street noise when we%26#39;re trying to sleep.

I would say it%26#39;s on the outer edge of the red light district - but the area with drug dealers, porn shops and a few working girls on the street is easily avoided.
You can get to the hotel by walking down Istedgade from the Central Station and the turn right up Helgolandsgade - and that will tale take you past the dealers, the porn and the girls.
Or you can leave the station by the main entrance towards Vesterbrogade and the walk left on Vesterborgade to Helgolandsgade - that way you completely avoid the red light district.
That said - there%26#39;s nothing dangerous about the area - it%26#39;s just a little depressing I find. I%26#39;ve never felt threatened even as a young girl, and my grandmother used to live in Helgolandsgade towards Halmtorvet, so I know the area.
Also if you choose the hotel, you should still visit Istedgade - from around Gasværksvej and down towards Enghave Plads it%26#39;s a funky place with fun shops and good cafes and cheap, good restaurants.
