Early flight to catch - Trains operating?

Hi,

I have an early flight leaving from Copenhagen Airport at 8:30am, and will need to there by 6:30am for check-in. Will the trains be up and running at 5 in the morning or do I have to splurge on a cab? I%26#39;m staying at the Scandic Sydhaven Hotel. Thanks in advance!

yes all trains run or start at 5am. Metro every 6 minutes, all other trains at least every 20 min. However your hotel is not on a direct line to the airport. You will have to walk to %26quot;Sydhavn%26quot; station which is only 200 meters. Take any northbound train to Central station and change here for trains to the airport.

You hotel is only 10 km from the airport - so a taxi might be a good idea. No traffic problems at that time.

By the way just so you know. This hotel is outside central copenhagen and nothing much is going on in that area. However going to and from city center with the %26quot;S-train%26quot; is easy and only takes 10 minutes.

A taxi (max 4 pax) to/from the airport will cost around DKK 200. Taxis are a bit more expensive between 4 pm and 7am and on weekends.

Hi,

is there a specific reason for you to go by train? If not, I would search for plane tickets instead. It is quite expensive to go by train, so if you don%26#39;t mind flying I think you could actually save both time and money by swapping the train ride for a plane.

You could also go by bus from Copenhagen, but I just checked the prices, and they are not comparable to the cheap airplane tickets. I%26#39;ve taken the bus from Copenhagen to Amsterdam a few times and cannot recommend it (but that%26#39;s me, I am not a bus person!!).

Norwegian Air has one way plane tickets for about DKK 500.

However, if you should wish to go by train you should contact DSB, I just copied this from their web page:

Caravan trip to Denmark

We are thinking of taking caravan next summer to Denmark, possibly Sweden as well with two teenagers. Can anyone recommend camp sites. Not sure yet which area would be best to visit to keep a 14 %26amp; 16 (girl %26amp; boy) reasonably happy! Have given up on beach hols as none of us like sitting around for too long, prefer to be mooching about exploring towns/villages etc. Any ideas/suggestions would be welcome.

There are nice camp sites in all parts of Denmark.

To narrow it down it will be helpful to know yours and your teens interests.

Is there a model airport in Copenhagen ?

My son is an enthusiast on model airports. When we visit Copenhagen, I plan to give him a surprise by visiting a model airport exhibition, if there is a good one on show. Any ideas ? Any web links ?

I am sorry to disappoint you but i%26#39;m quite sure that there is no model airport anywhere in Copenhagen. I have never heard or seen one. I am a frequent flyer and have never seen one at the airport either....

Copenhagen Airport Luggage Storage

I will be arriving into Copenhagen Airport and need to store 2 suitcases for 2 weeks before my cruise starts. Is there a storage facility that can handle this?

Unfortunately the maximum rental period for baggage lockers at the airport is 72 hours.

However, there is a left luggage facility, which is located between Terminal 3 and Terminal 2. Here you can store all kinds of luggage for up to one month. The fee for ordinary luggage is DKK 40 per day.

You can also store your luggage at Copenhagen Central Station, but fees will be similar.

May i ask why you are storing 2 pieces of luggage for 2 weeks before going on a cruise? If you have booked a hotel for the first night you could ask them if they would be kind enough to store it - and then come back for it at the end.

Upon my arrival into Copenhagen, I will be taking a flight to Rome. I will not return to Copenhagen until 1 day before the cruise starts. I do not know if I have the time to go to the hotel which I will be staying in Copenhagen and return to the airport to catch the flight.

Are you flights on 1 ticket?

if so

Your baggage will be through checked to Rome you will not see it in CPH.

If that is the case

Maybe look for storage at Rome airport

Copenhagen to Finland to Sweden

Just starting my research, would like to fly into Copenhagen from there take a booze cruise to Finland (heard that was fun) and then on to Sweden. Do not want to spend too much time in cities, I am more into countryside, scenery and outdoor activities. Going June or July 2010 and know absolutely nothing about any of these locations. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Sorry, booze cruise is between Stockholm and Helsinki. Fly CPH to HEL and then the cruise to STO.

Thank you for your input. I could fly into Sweden instead and go from there to Helsinki. What is your recommendation that I try and cover in a two week period? I was advised by someone to fly into Copenhagen then take a short flight from there to Sweden, as I said I know nothing about any of these Countries and am just beginning to gather information. Truthfully I hadn%26#39;t even looked at a map before I posted my question which prior to responding to your comment I have done. Would have been a good place to start instead of sounding like a total space cadet but sometimes just throwing it out there you learn more :) I appreciate your response.

Yep, it%26#39;s a good idea to fly into Stockholm if there are suitable flights. (CPH seems to have the best variety of connections in The Nordic)

Arrive in STO, booze cruise to HEL, flight HEL-CPH and leave from CPH.

2 weeks? That%26#39;s pretty reasonable amount of time. Few days in each country.

BTW while in Helsinki do take a day trip to Tallinn, Estonia.

New - Wakeup Hotel?

Hi everyone,

We will be in Copenhagen at the end of September and have been looking for a decent, affordable hotel. We have found some really good rates on the new WakeUp Hotel that opens next month. Its touted as a Budget hotel from the Arp-Hansen Hotel group, but with no guests yet, there are no reviews to judge if it is a decent place. It seems to be in a good location and atleast everything will be brand new!

Does anyone have any insight or thoughts on this hotel? Please let us know as it will help us make our decision to chose it for our stay.

We are in the same position about the Wake-Up Hotel. We will be taking a short cruise from Copenhagen (Sept. 10-15) and are looking for a one-night stay pre-cruise on Sept. 9. I called the hotels%26#39;s booking number to be sure that the hotel will be open before our arrival (don%26#39;t want to arrive to a total construction site!!), and was told that the hotel opens on Sept. 1.

I booked online for DKK 500 for a standard double-room (DKK 100 less than booking by phone)for the night. Hope it%26#39;s o.k.. I can report here after we return on Sept. 17th, but that%26#39;s probably too late to be of help to you.

For 2 nights post-cruise we booked the Bethel Hotel, which seems to be a favorite on Tripadvisor. Their reservations dept. (person) are wonderful to deal with -- extremely nice and helpful. Only a large double room was still available for our nights and the cost is DKK 945 including full breakfast. (Almost a bargain for extremely expensive Copenhagen!)

Thanks for the info! Funny thing is we also emailed the Bethel hotel. It looked like a sweet place in a great location, but we will be staying for 5 days and are trying to keep it alittle cheaper. As of right now we are leaning towards getting a room at the wakeup, but figured first we would try and find someone local with insight on the hotel. Enjoy your trip! We will be flying to Iceland first and then to Copenhagen. CANT WAIT!!!

Well here%26#39;s a small input from a local who obviously have not stayed at the hotel.

It%26#39;s in a not very interesting part of Copenhagen.

If you check out the reviews for Island Hotel - you will get a general idea of the area.

There are no shops, cafes or restaurants around and it is a brisk 20-25 minute walk to the city center.

We realized that Wakeup is quite far from much of everything, but since we are arriving on a flight late evening and will be boarding our ship the next morning, we decided it was worth saving at least DKK 400 to just use the hotel as a place to sleep for a few hours. We%26#39;ll be doing the sightseeing at the end of the cruise and for that we%26#39;ve booked the Bethel Hotel. Is that a better choice?

I have booked this hotel online in the heaven room for one night in early Oct including breakfast. Price was $149.00 Australian dollars which I am very happy about considering prices of hotels in Copenhagen.

Im a local and i dont think the location of WakeUp is too bad. Its not more than 10-15 minutes walk to the Central Station (Hovedbanegården) and Tivoli.

Its not in the old charming part of the city and today its still a building site, but if the price is rigth u should not be worried!

We are leaving next week for Copenhagen, and are booked in this hotel starting 14 September. The price attracted us for what is supposed to be a 4 or 5 star hotel??? Now we are worried that when we arrive, the hotel might not be open yet! Does anyone have any up to date information?

According to the Arp-Hansen website, the hotel opened on September 1st.

But why not drop them a mail and ask them?
